The Louvre museum is open every day except Tuesdays. The opening hours for the Louvre are:
- Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday 9.00 am – 6.00 pm
- Wednesday and Friday 09:00 – 21:45
Opening hours on public holidays
The museum is often open on public holidays. The Louvre is open on those days from 9am to 6pm. There are 3 public holidays on which the Louvre is closed all day:
- May 1 (Labor Day)
- August 15 (Assumption of Mary)
- December 25 (Christmas Day)
Tickets Louvre
It is best to order tickets for the Louvre in advance. Order them easily online on the Louvre website. You can purchase tickets here with your credit card. Or buy them for a bit extra here, for free cancellation until the day before.

- Entrance: 17 euros
- Audio guide: 5 euros
- Free entrance: for people under 26 years old, when they are residents of the EU. Outside of the EU, people until 18 years old have free entrance.

Bringing luggage into the museum
Do not take large luggage with you when you visit the museum. Only bags smaller than 55 x 35 x 20 cm are allowed into the Louvre. You must then place these bags in one of the lockers in the cloakroom. Due to the strict security, you can have a more extended check with luggage.
